- Northview wins makeup game
Despite rains that moved the Northview Invitational tennis tournament to Greencastle's facility on DePauw's campus, the Northview Knights came out on top of the round robin tournament.
The Knights capped off an undefeated week with a team victory as Kristy Backfish took the individual title at No. 3 singles.
Winning in doubles action were the teams of Heather Palmer and Megan Love at No. 1 doubles and Sarah Cox and Rachel Deal won the No. 2 doubles group over Makenzie Carr and Kim Jefferson of the Tiger Cubs.
Trace Hassler placed second at No. 1 singles, finishing runner up to Greencastle's Kate Martin and though the Tiger Cubs Hannah Fenlon won at No. 2 singles, Mellisa Miller took second for the Knights on Saturday.
The Knights will get a break during the early part of this week after winning four consecutive dual matches last week. Northview will visit West Vigo for a match on Thursday evening.

Ryan Nees provided the power and T.J. King provided seven strong innings on the mound for the Knights who picked up a 9-2 victory over sectional foe Plainfield on Friday night.
Nees smacked a pair of homeruns while walking twice and picking up five RBIs for the Knights who got a complete game seven hitter from King.
On the night, King struckout four while walking two and allowing just one earned run in the win.
Shane Cooper had a pair of hits, including a double and Brady Shoemaker added two more hits, including a double and an RBI. Graig Bass picked up a hit as well for Northview who advanced to 11-4 overall this season and 6-2 in the Western Indiana Conference.
Northview faces an important week with a 7 p.m. road game versus West Vigo on Tuesday night followed by a Friday home game against the Vikings and the Big 4 Tourney on Saturday.
