Eels place second at Tri-River Conference track meet

On Friday night, the Linton Miners swept to a Tri-River Conference track meet with the Clay City Eels placing second as a team in both the girls and boys events.

For the Clay City boys who scored 152 points to the Miners 191, Roger Harden was the shotput winner with a throw of 47-4 and placed second to teammate Kyle Booe in the discus. Booe was fourth in the shotput.

The 3,200 relay team of Kyle Tiefel, David Schroer, Jared Schlak and Andy Huggler was a winner with Huggler also taking the top spot in the 1,600 meters ahead of teammate Logan Bettenbrock who was third. In the 800 meter event, Huggler was second with Tiefel in fourth.

Bettenbrock was second in the 3,200 meter race with Schroer in fifth. The Eels also won the 1,600 relay event.

Also taking second was Camrand Tucker in the 110 hurdles with Jared Defore in third. Defore was third in the 300 hurdle event and Tucker placed fourth.

Stephen Johnson compiled big points for the Eels with a second place in the 400 meters and a fourth in the 100 and a third in the long jump. In the 200, Andre Josifov was third while Cole Schroer was fourth in the 400 and fifth in the high jump.

In the girls half of the meet the Miners scored 224 points in an impressive effort with the Eels in second with 115.

The Eels registered a new school record in the 3,200 meter event, placing second to Linton with an 11:13.6.

Sabrina Liechty was second in the shotput for the Eels.
