- North Clay splits track meets
Northview's doubles teams enjoyed an undefeated week despite a 1-2 team record versus West Vigo, Brown County and Sullivan.
On Saturday, the No. 1 doubles team of Heather Palmer and Megan Love defeated Kaylan McKain and Ashley Pierce of Sullivan, 6-2, 6-2 and downed Brown County's Sarah Warburton and Mara Freshour, 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 in a tiebreaker. The two also won on Thursday night versus the Vikings pair of Courtney Biberstine and Brittney Brown, 6-2, 6-0
Sarah Cox and Rachel Deal also were unbeaten in the three matches, opening Thursday with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Stephanie Voll and Mika Hunt of the Vikings and coming back Saturday for a marathon 6-2, 7-6 (11-9) win versus Sullivan and a 6-0, 6-3 win over Brown County's Carolyn Talylor and Ashley Morse.
The Knights lone team victory came against Brown County with a 4-1 win as Trace Hassler won 6-0, 6-1 versus Allie Koehl while Kristy Backfish won at No. 3 singles over Alex Maddux, 6-0, 6-1.
In junior varsity action Thursday evening, Madason Stevenson, Ramey Hayes and Kristen Hauser all won in singles while the team of Laura McCrea and Kellsy Maurer won in doubles.

North Clay Track
The North Clay girls track team earned a pair of victories in a three-way meet with South Vermilion and Chauncy Rose last week, posting 68 points to Chauncy Rose's 48 and South Vermillion's 24 on Thursday night.
In field events for the girls, Jonna Harlan was third in the shotput and second in the discus while Clara Butts was third and Katherine McDonald fourth.
Fellow sixth grader Brooklyne Myers was second in the long jump and Nebula Schultz was third in the high jump. Rachel Packard was fourth.
On the track, Kyler Clark won the hurdles with Packard in second. The Lady Knights swept the 3,200 event with Tiffany Young leading Cassandra Barnett and Marissa Bryan across the line.
In the sprints, Cayla Yockey was second in the 100 meters with Renee Leslie in third and Elle Kleiber fourth. Yockey would return for second in the 200 with Leslie in fourth.
Allie True was second in the 1,600 with Corey Laue in third and in the 400, Shelby Sands just edged out Carlee Bell with Stormi Raines in third.
Young placed first in the 800 meters with Kirsten Kimball in fourth.
The boys squad got second place finishes from Ross Crooks in the discus, Jared Royer in the 2,400 meters, Jered Timm in the 400 and Griffin Maurer in the 200, but placed third to North Putnam and Greencastle on Tuesday.
On Thursday they took second place to a strong Chauncey Rose team that scored 82 points. The Knights scored 35 to the Wildcats 22.
Timm was second in the high jump and 100 meters and won the 400 while Maurer was first in the 800 meters. The 1,600 relay team of Timm, Maurer, Jared Staley and Jordan Maurer won as well.
Royer was fourth in the 1,600 and fourth in the 800 while Jordan Maurer was third and Drake Stevenson was fourth in the 200.
In field events, Jordan Keller was fourth in the discus and Alex Modesitt was fourth in the shotput.
Both squads competed in the Western Indiana Conference meet on Saturday.
