Akers ties school golf record, Eels win again

Friday, May 21, 2004

On Senior Night at Forest Park Golf Course, Tyler Akers eagled the third hole and just missed another putt for an eagle on hole number nine on the way to tying the nine-hole school record at the course.

Akers recorded a 31 to tie Chad Penman's record set in 1995 for the Knights.

Fellow senior Austin Staley was right behind Akers with a round of 32 for the Knights.

Staley missed a birdie putt on No. 9 that would have tied Akers for the record.

"You couldn't have asked for a better Senior Night," said coach Scott Buell.

The Knights would get their 10th dual match win of the year with a 137 to Sullivan's 152.

Northview's third senior Caleb Edington scored a 39 for the Knights with Kyle Kumpf scoring a 37 as did Austin Schutte.

Devin Whittington scored a 38 and Roy Wyndham scored a 39.

The Knights will travel to West Vigo on Thursday for a match at Hulman Links.
