Second baseman Wade Thacker contributed a hit as Northview defeated Carmel 10-5 in summer baseball.

The Northview Knights won their first summer baseball contest on Friday evening with a rain shortened 10-5 victory over the Carmel Greyhounds.

Nick Wells started the game on the mound for Northview, throwing five innings and allowing just two hits. He struckout nine batters in his stint and walked two batters to get the victory.

Shawn Hughes came in to close out the game for the Knights. Hughes walked the first batter he faced before sending the final three batters back to the dugout.

Steady rain forced the cancellation of the final inning of play along with the scheduled second game of the doubleheader for Northview.

The Knights picked up 10 hits in the game with T.J. King, Graig Bass, and Shawn Hughes each getting a pair of hits. King also drilled a homerun for Northview in the win.

Also picking up hits for the Knights were Brady Shoemaker, Craig Trout, John Reberger and Wade Thacker.
