The Northview girls golf team won their first tournament of the season on Thursday afternoon with a convincing victory over a nine other teams at the Edgewood Invitational at Stonecrest Golf Course.
The Knights got a medalist effort from senior Brittney Cheek who carded a round of 77 to garner individual honors.
However, they also got strong rounds from Millie Akers with an 81 and Mary Beth Tribble who shot an 84 and Maggie Kirchner who fired an 87 to give Northview an impressive 37 stroke victory over second place Whiteland. Madison Kirchner rounded out the scoring for the Knights with a score of 96.
The win comes on the heels of an eighth place finish in the Valparaiso Invitational on Tuesday. The Knights battled many of the state's best teams that were amongst the 18-team field.
On Thursday, Akers came home tied for second medalist honors with Linton's Rachel Pruett.
Up next for the Knights is a trip to Oak Tree Golf Course for the Mooresville Invitational on Monday morning beginning at 10 a.m.
