TERRE HAUTE -- Summer is a very busy season for the Northview golf program. The Knights took part in their fourth tournament on Monday afternoon and brought back some hardware for their latest efforts.
Northview's 'A' team shot a team score of 350 to edge past Jasper's 357 to win the Terre Haute South Invitational for the second consecutive year.
"I think we played really well," commented head coach Teresa Akers on her squad. "The kids were really anxious and they like playing this course because it plays a lot like Forest Park."
Senior Brittney Cheek took top honors for the Knights by carding an 18 hole score of 79, just behind Linton's Rachel Pruett who was the tournament medalist with a round of 75.
Millie Akers shot an 84 for the Knights with Madison Kirchner next on the scorecard with a 93. Maggie Kirchner and Mary Beth Tribble each shot a 94.
"Millie (Akers) and Jenae (Huffman) were pretty happy with their rounds," Akers said. "The rest of the girls thought that they could have maybe shot a little bit better."
The Knights 'B' team also got a chance to play, shooting a round of 394. Amber Trusler and Erika Tucker who each shot a round of 90 with Huffman and Madason Stevenson shooting a 107.
"It's great," Akers said of her team getting to play everyone in a tournament setting. "We don't have many chances this season (for everyone to play). We have a lot of away matches this season. We're working on putting together some JV matches."
Terre Haute North shot a 358 to place third in the tournament and South Putnam was fourth in the tourney which also included Terre Haute South, Sullivan, Linton, Greencastle, West Vigo and Cloverdale along with a single golfer from South Knox.
Next up for Northview will be a road match at Clover Meadows Golf Course versus Cloverdale on Thursday at 11 a.m.
