With a hectic schedule tying up their home course, the West Vigo Vikings were forced to travel to Brazil to face Western Indiana Conference foe Northview on Monday night.
They are likely wishing that they stayed home instead.
Northview took advantage of an unexpected home match to open the week by shooting a team score of 162 to the Viking's round of 209.
The Knights got a medalist round from senior Brittney Cheek who shot a round of 35 which included a pair of birdies on the afternoon.
Cheek opened her round strong with a birdie on the first hole for the Knights, getting the team off to a strong start. She would also end her round in a big way when she came home with another birdie on the eighth hole to give her top honors on the day.
Northview has just four home matches scheduled all year long on a slate that includes visits to Jasper, Valparaiso, Indianapolis, Mooresville and hopefully to Franklin in October to compete in the state tournament.
Following Cheek was Madison Kirchner who shot a round of 39 for the Knights and Maggie Kirchner's 43. Millie Akers shot a 45 as did Jenae Huffman.
Leading the junior varsity group was Amber Trusler who shot a solid round of 42 and Erika Tucker who carded a 44.
The tuneup at home could be key as Northview (4-0 overall, 1-0 conference) hosts Vigo County rivals Terre Haute North and South on Thursday evening for a 4:30 p.m. three-way match.
