The Northview boys soccer team placed second at the Frankfort Soccer Tournament Saturday morning.
The Knights, who also finished second last year, defeated Indianapolis Broad Ripple in the opening contest by a 2-1 count as captain Brock Crooks fired home the first goal on a penalty kick. The shot beat the Rockets' keeper low to the left, freezing the goalie in taking a 1-0 Northview lead.
Jarius Martinez would score Northview's second goal on an assist from Stephen Brannan.
Brannan brought the ball upfield on a nice feed from his defenders and drew a couple of Broad Ripple defenders to him before feeding Martinez for the Knight's second score of the game.
Tyler Montague had five saves in the victory that sent Northview into the championship game versus Frankfort.
The Knights didn't have as much success versus the Hot Dogs, dropping a 10-0 decision that leaves Northview at 1-3 overall this season.
Northview will travel to Greencastle on Wednesday evening for a 5 p.m. game versus the Tiger Cubs.
