The North Clay football squads picked up a pair of wins on Thursday night over visiting South Vermillion.

The eighth grade squad won 42-0 while the seventh grade squad defeated the Wildcats 30-6.

For the eighth grade Knights, Austin Akers scored the first touchdown with a two-point conversion from Nate Williams who would later score on a five-yard TD gallop before halftime.

Quarterback Heath Wells would deliver a 35-yard TD pass to Kade Baker before the half as the Knights went into the break leading 20-0.

After halftime, North Clay's Mitch Haviland blocked a Wildcats punt which was recovered by Jordan Keller who scored in the third quarter. Williams again scored the conversion and Brad Wilson hauled in a TD pass in the final quarter.

The final score came from Mark Gircheck on a TD run, he also scored the conversion to give North Clay the victory.

The defense provided a dominating presence in the game, not allowing a first down in the first half and hounding the Wildcat QB the entire game.

Details of the seventh grade contest will be published at a later date.
