The Northview varsity volleyball team had a strong showing in Saturday's Crawfordsville Tournament, placing second in the four team field. The freshman squad won their half of the tourney.
The Knights won their opener over Southmont by a 25-19, 25-17 count and followed that up with a two set victory over Cloverdale, 26-24, 25-9 before dropping a two set match to host Crawfordsville, 22-25, 21-25.
Lottie King had a big day for Northview, posting 19 kills, 14 points (three aces), 20 digs and six blocks. Brianne Arvin added 13 kills and 14 digs and Lindsay Thomas posted a 48 assist afternoon to go with her nine service points (four aces) and 16 digs.
At the service line Kellsy Maurer had 12 points (three aces) and Brittney Spugnardi chipped in with seven points and three aces. She also had a team-leading 37 digs and five kills.
Casey Challandes had 25 digs for the Knights and Kaley Huffman had 20.
Behind King's team-leading 19 kills, Christy Fulk had 12 and Laura McCrea had eight. Fulk also topped the squad with 10 blocks.
The second place finish boosted Northview's season mark to 6-3 overall with a Tuesday match at White River Valley.
Northview wins over Edgewood, 25-18, 25-15, 25-18
Northview picked up a WIC victory over host Edgewood in three sets behind 35 assists from Thomas and 13 digs.
Huffman had seven service points and had 10 digs to go with Fulk's team-high nine kills. Arvin added eight and Laura McCrea added seven with both King and Heather Palmer chipping in with six kills.
Fulk led the team with seven blocks ahead of King and Palmer's two apiece.
The junior varsity squad evened their mark at 3-3 this season with a win over the Mustangs, 26-28, 25-19, 25-22.
