Clay City boys and girls cross country victorious

The Clay City boys cross country team picked up a dual meet victory over Shakamak on Tuesday night, 20 to 42.

Dustin Souders topped the Eels effort with his second place finish in the meet, crossing the line in 18:45. Adam Schroer was third overall with his 19:00 and Tyler Moon was fourth in 19:16. Logan Bettenbrock was fifth for Clay City in 19:19 and Cole Schroer was sixth in 19:39.

Austin Vansickle finished seventh in 19:56 with Ryan Sutton in ninth with a time of 20:21 and Kyle Grassic was 18th overall in 25:19.

The victory moves the Eels to 1-0 in dual meets with a trip to the Terre Haute North Invitational on Saturday morning at the LaVerne Gibson Championship Course.


Girls Cross Country

Clay City 25, Shakamak NS

The Clay City girls cross country team got a first place finish from Lacey Rood to help them to a dual meet victory over Shakamak on Tuesday night.

Rood ran an 18:36 to defeat Shakamak's Haylea Martin by 13 seconds. Elizabeth Beyers placed fourth in the event in 19:58 while Chelsea Riggs was fifth in 20:20. Danielle Steiner ran a 27:22 and Whitney Ames finished ninth in 28:24.
