With the South Vermillion Wildcats limited on numbers, the Northview cross country teams romped to an easy victory in a WIC dual meet on Tuesday.
The girls, led by senior Emily Pugh had the first six runners cross the line before the two South Vermillion competitors reached the finish.
Pugh ran a 16:23 and was followed by teammate Kim Deakins in second place with her time of 18:18. Third place saw Hannah Hunter finish with a time of 19:45 and Jennifer Jeffers was fourth followed by Melanie Pugh in 20:55. Emilee Lutes rounded out the top five for Northview in 21:57.
In ninth place was Kayla Pugh in 24:53 and Kaleigh Bennett was 10th with Mariella Gallardo in 11th place overall.
In the boys event, the Knights had the first five runners with Ryan Thompson winning the event in 18:36 ahead of teammate James Grounds' time of 19:16.
Hunter Reberger was third for Northview in 19:43 with Logan Wegner placing fourth with his time of 19:53 and Kyle Colson was fifth in 20:24.
Griffin Maurer finished in seventh place with Drew White in eighth and Jordan Maurer in ninth place.
The Knights will have a few days off before participating in the Cascade Invitational on Saturday morning.
Clay City boys cross country
Clay City 29, Sullivan 49, North Central 54
The Clay City Eels continued their strong season, sweeping a three-way meet at Sullivan on Tuesday.
Clay City's boys scored 29 team points ahead of Sullivan's 49 and North Central's 54.
The Eels were led by Logan Bettenbrock's second place finish in 17:52 while Dustin Souder was third overall in 17:53. Tyler Moon was seventh in 19:14 followed by eighth place finisher Cole Schroer and Austin Vansickle in ninth. Ryan Sutton placed 12th with Matt Vansickle in 14th and Kyle Grassick in 17th.
The Eels will run again on Thursday when they host the Clay City Invitational.
