Lincoln Park Speedway to feature first Patriot 100 event

Thursday, September 9, 2004

Wes McClara (#45M) and Jimmy Hayden (#15J) of Coatsville will be two of the many drivers battling Friday and Saturday at Lincoln Park Speedway as part of the Patriot 100 Modified race which pays $7,000 to the winner and at least $400 to every driver who starts the main event.

With the close of the racing year nearing quickly, Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, IN will be featuring some of the season's hottest racing this weekend in the first Patriot 100 event.

The two-day racing card, held this Friday and Saturday, will feature qualifying and heat races for the Modifieds class which will run a 100-lap feature event on Saturday with $7,000 going to the winner of what should be a very hotly contested race.

Friday night's action will include qualifying for what is expected to be a very sizable field of Modified racing talent. Each car will get a two lap qualifying attempt that will determine heat lineups with fastest times starting from the heat's pole.

Positions will be at a premium on Friday since each winner of their 10-lap heat will go to the Patriot 100 feature on Saturday night.

Friday night will also feature a special Super Stock card with $750 to win and $75 to start for the class.

On Saturday night the battle to reach the feature begins anew with six consolation features with the top-six in each transferring to one of two last chance semifeatures. Lineups for the consolation races will be determined by the finish of day one's heat races.

The two last chance semifeatures should be action packed with a wealth of fast movers battling over 20 laps to determine who reaches the big money 100 lap main event.

In the event that there are more than 125 cars registered, there will be a 20-lap 'B' feature for the top 20 non-qualifiers for the Patriot 100.

The main event which guarantees all starters at least $400 will run 50 laps before a 10 minute fuel break and the final 50 laps to determine the inaugural Patriot 100 champion.

For fans, pit gates will open at 12 p.m. with 6:45 p.m. beginning Super Stock hotlaps and 7 p.m. the UMP Modified hotlaps on Friday.

Saturday night, hotlaps for the Modifieds will begin at 6:15 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.
