The North Clay cross country teams finished off a strong week on Saturday morning at the Jon Mitchell Invitational in Cascade.
The North Clay boys team was led by Chris Smith with his ninth place finish overall in 11:15 with teammate Jared Royer close behind in 11th play in the meet which did not keep team scores.
Josh Morris placed 24th and Eli Kirby was just behind in 25th place. Logan Lynch was 30th, E.C. Moody was 31st and Seth Wright was 34th.
In the girls division, Cassandra Barnett was first for the Lady Knights, finishing in seventh place overall in 12:52 and Tiffany Young, battling illness, placed 16th. Corey Laue was 19th, Raven Enders 21st, Allie True was 24th, Marissa Bryan 26th and Shelby Bass placed 33rd.
Earlier in the week, North Clay's squads dominated South Vermillion as the girls won 15 to 50 and the boys defeated the Wildcats 20-43.
Young won the girls event with a time of 13:34 with Enders in second, Barnett was third, Laue was fourth, Bryan fifth, True was sixth and Bass was seventh.
In the boys race, Chris Laswell of South Vermillion won the race but North Clay controlled the next seven places with Smith finishing second in 11:45.
Royer was third with his teammate Moody in fourth, Kirby in fifth, Morris sixth, Lynch in seventh and Ryan Lutes was eighth.
The cross country teams will be back in action on Wednesday at Sullivan in a four-way meet with North Central, Sullivan and Otter Creek.
