Shawn Hughes teamed with Alex Smith to win both doubles matches this week.

Despite winning their first match of the season on Monday night, Northview's tennis team was unable to build on their victory, dropping a 4-1 decision to Edgewood on Tuesday.

The Knights got a victory from the doubles tandem of Shawn Hughes and Alex Smith who defeated Scott Hoit and Matt Lowers, 6-1, 6-4 but the Mustangs swept in singles action and also won a long battle for number two doubles, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) over Ryne Barr and Clint Grey.

Jacob Talbot dropped his number one singles match and both Ryan Brown and Shane Cooper were unable to get wins at singles as well.

However, on Monday night the results were much different as Northview defeated host Rockville, 3-2.

Brown won a three-set battle with Michael Overpeck, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 to get the Knights going along with Cooper who won 6-0, 6-1 at number three singles.

In doubles, Hughes and Smith picked up their first victory as a doubles squad with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over James Bacon and Josh Barlock.

In JV action, Brodee Miller won 8-3 while Garrett Turpin won a singles match 8-0 and teamed with Matt Stuckey for an 8-4 doubles win on Monday.

Tuesday evening Stuckey and Turpin dropped a 5-8 decision in doubles.

The Knights will return to the courts for a match versus West Vigo on Thursday.
