Knights sweep past Golden Arrows

Ryan Thompson cruised home to a first place finish against Sullivan on Wednesday evening in a time of 18:02.

The Northview Knights got a dual meet victory over Sullivan in cross country action on Wednesday night as the boys slipped past the Golden Arrows 25-32 in team scoring while Sullivan did not have a girls team.

With no opposing competition, the Northview girls competed against the boys runners over the 5K course.

Emily Pugh was the first female across the line in a time of 21:39 ahead of Kim Deakins who ran a 22:58 for the Knights. Hannah Hunter placed third on the Knights with a time of 24:04 with Emilee Lutes crossing next in 26:17.

Jennifer Jeffers followed for Northview ahead of Melanie Pugh, Felicia Smith, Kayla Pugh, Kayla Bennett and Mariella Gallardo.

In the boys event, Ryan Thompson was the overall winner for Northview with a time of 18:02 ahead of a pair of Sullivan competitors.

However, the Knights picked up the 4-5 spots as James Grounds ran an 18:37 to finish ahead of teammate Hunter Reberger in 19:16.

In seventh place was Griffin Maurer in 19:32 with Logan Wegner in eighth, Drew White in ninth place, Kyle Colson in 12th and Jordan Maurer in 13th.

Up next for the Knights will be the South Knox Invitational which will also feature the junior high North Clay Knights.
