The North Clay cross country teams flexed their collective muscles on Saturday at the South Knox Invitational as the girls' squad placed first ahead of 16 other squads and the boys' team was second in the 14 team field.
The girls team was led by Tiffany Young's sixth place finish in 12:44 just ahead of Cassandra Barnett in seventh, just five seconds back of Young.
As a squad, North Clay had 79 points to edge Gibson Southern's 107 and Southridge's 137.
Marissa Bryan placed 20th followed by Raven Enders in 21st, Corey Laue in 31st, Shelby Bass in 39th and Allie True in 41st.
In the boys event the Knights were paced by Chris Smith who was 11th in 11:15 with Jared Royer just behind in 14th with an 11:18. Josh Morris was 25th, Eli Kirby was 28th, E.C. Moody placed 35th followed by Logan Lynch in 38th and Seth Wright in 48th.
The boys 'B' team placed second behind Barr-Reeve who also won the varsity race.
Carson Craft led the Knights with a third place finish ahead of teammate Ryan Lutes in seventh, Andrew Butts in 10th, Brad Smith in 16th, Josh Lynch in 27th, Josiah Alstott in 34th and Billy McCullough in 43rd.
North Clay will travel to West Vigo on Wednesday in a three-way meet that will also include Otter Creek. Thursday they will compete at Clay City.
