The Northview Knights moved to 3-2 in the Western Indiana Conference on Tuesday night with a 3-1 triumph over South Vermillion.
The Wildcats took the early advantage before John Latta evened up the score when John Latta picked up an unassisted score when he drew his defender in before cutting back and placing a shot into the upper corner of the net for his fifth goal of the season, extending his own freshman record. Ryan Piatt held the previous record of two in a season.
Josiah Brock gave the Knights the lead in the second half when he threaded the ball through a defender's legs and placed the ball in the lower left corner just past a diving keeper.
Kyle Russell finished out the scoring on the night with just 1:30 remaining in the game.
Defensively, senior Wade Thacker led the way with 16 saves/steals with Jacob Lynch chipping in with 12 saves.
"Overall I was pleased with the win," said head coach Todd LaComba. "But there were far too many opportunities that we didn't capitalize on which could have put the game away early. That's something we'll be working on before Senior Night versus Sullivan on Tuesday."
With the win the Knights advance to 5-9 overall.
