The North Clay seventh grade football team earned a 38-0 victory over visiting West Vigo on Tuesday night to improve their record to 7-0 this season.
The Knights got going quickly in the game with an opening 75-yard kickoff return by Drake Stevenson. The two-point conversion was good as quarterback Justin White completed a pass to Stevenson for a quick 8-0.
North Clay' defense then stopped the Vikings offense to force a punt and on a bad snap set up the Knights next score on a 25-yard sweep from Stevenson. White kept the ball on the two-point conversion and the Knights were up 16-0 in the first quarter.
An interception by inside linebacker Michael Grigsby set up the next score by the Knights on a touchdown by Brad Powell good for 25 yards. Tightend Scotty Wheeler caught the conversion pass from White for a 24-0 advantage.
In the final minutes of the first half the North Clay defense blocked a punt from the Vikings to set up a five-yard plunge from Stevenson and a 30-0 halftime lead.
Halfback Jessie Shepard provided the final score of the game for North Clay.
Shepard was also a defensive standout for the Knights with a team-leading 10 tackles with great support from split corner Joel Rector and defensive back Brock Potter.
The Knights will be in action on Wednesday night when they travel to Sullivan at 6 p.m.
