Northview improves perfect WIC mark on court

The Northview Knights picked up their 16th win of the season on Thursday night and more importantly moved a step closer to winning the Western Indiana Conference.

The Knights downed South Vermillion by a 25-3, 25-7, 25-17 count to improve to a perfect 5-0 in the WIC with a final game versus Owen Valley set for Oct. 6 at home.

Brittney Spugnardi had 13 digs, 14 service points along with three aces to go with five kills in the game. Lindsay Thomas contributed a team-leading 30 assists and added 12 points and five digs. Casey Challandes added seven digs in the contest along with three points.

Lottie King was tops in kills with 13 and added three blocks, four digs and four points while Brianne Arvin chipped in eight kills along with two digs and Laura McCrea had five kills.

Heather Palmer had two kills and two blocks and Christy Fulk added three and three blocks in the game.

The Knights will face off with South Putnam on Monday evening at home.


Junior Varsity volleyball

In the JV contest the Knights picked up a straight set victory over the Wildcats, 25-15, 25-10 as Emma Koehler had 18 assists, four points and three aces.

Ashley Hull had 10 kills while Cari Laue added seven and Katie Timberman had two. Nikki Mogan was dominant at the service line with 18 points and four aces while Traci Sanders added seven points and four aces to go with six digs. Laue also had three points and Kyler Clark added an ace.
