Tough road ahead for Knights in volleyball sectional

The Northview Knights will kickoff their quest for a sectional volleyball title this afternoon in the second scheduled afternoon game of their own sectional.

At 11 a.m. this afternoon, Martinsville will face off with Plainfield in a battle of squads who have to be two of the favorites to claim the title.

Martinsville put the clamps on Mooresville Thursday night with a 25-10, 25-11, 25-13 decision in less than an hour and the Quakers handled Terre Haute North in a 23-25, 25-11, 25-23, 25-5 victory.

The Artesians (26-6) and Plainfield (26-7) will battle for a berth in the 7 p.m. championship game versus either Northview or Terre Haute South who will square off at approximately 12:30 p.m. in their semifinal match.


In the Bloomfield Sectional Thursday night, the Clay City Eels were defeated 10-25, 25-18, 15-25, 19-25 in the match versus Union.

Stacey Secrest had 18 points and 17 kills in the match for the Bulldogs and Brandi McCamon added 14 assists and 13 digs to advance to Saturday's semifinal with Bloomfield at 10 a.m.
