The North Clay eighth grade basketball team joined their seventh grade counterparts with a Western Indiana Conference championship on Saturday.
The Knights traveled to Brown County where they picked up three consecutive wins to earn the WIC title.
In the championship game, North Clay trailed through one quarter of play versus Edgewood but took a 23-20 lead into halftime on the way to a 46-40 victory.
A balanced scoring attack helped lead the squad to victory as seven different players scored and Nathan Williams came off the bench to tally nine points. Clint Reynolds added nine along with Ethan Tanner while both Mitch Haviland and Austin Akers had six points.
In the semifinal contest the Knights got seven first half points from Akers and Tanner to pull out to a six point advantage, 24-18. The Knights would outscore Carlisle 15-5 in the third period to cruise home to a 48-34 victory.
Tanner led the way with 11 points and both Reynolds and Akers chipped in with 10 points. Kade Baker added six in the victory.
North Clay advanced to the semifinal game after defeating host Brown County, 41-37.
Akers had 13 points to lead the Knights and Tanner added 12 with Reynolds adding nine.
The Knights will travel to Greencastle for a 6 p.m. contest on Thursday evening.
