Knights place 2nd at Invite

Northview senior, Tony Sanabria (left) earned Most Outstanding Wrestler honors by going 5-0, winning the heavyweight class at the Northview Invite on Saturday afternoon. He also improved to 16-1 this season with his efforts.

-Sanabria named Most Outstanding Wrestler -

Northview senior heavyweight Tony Sanabria was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler and the Knights placed second in the Northview Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

The Knights and Plainfield faced off in the afternoon's final dual match with 4-0 marks on the day, but the Quakers were able to score a close 38-31 victory to take home the tourney team title.

Sanabria's outstanding effort fueled the Northview chase for the championship.

He went 5-0 on the afternoon, including a decision over previously unbeaten and the state's sixth ranked wrestler, LaShawn Tyler of Terre Haute North. Sanabria also had four pins on the afternoon and improved his season record to an impressive 16-1.

Jeremiah Allen also was a weight class winner for the Knights at the 215 pound mark and joined Austin Nicosin at 112 pounds and Corey Grigsby at 130 and Greg Stultz at 160 pounds.

Plainfield took home six class championships with Wes Patrick winning at 119, Mike Patrick and 135, Collin Carlucci at 140, Jeremy O'Brien won at 145, Sean Donelson at 152 and Jordan Moffitt at 171. West Vigo had one winner, Ryan Jewitt at 189 and Terre Haute North won the 125 pound class on the strength of Jordan Earls' effort.

Brown County went 0-5 as a team in the meet, but 103 pounder John Robertson won his class.

Northview (11-6 in dual meets) will travel to Edgewood on Wednesday to face the Mustangs.
