Clay City girls loss second consecutive game

The Clay City Eels dropped their second straight game following a six game winning streak with a 49-39 loss to Tri-River Conference foe North Central on Monday night.

Annika Dawson and Sierra Taft combined for 35 points to send the Eels to the defeat.

Whitney McWilliams scored 15 for Clay City, but Cameron Gerber was the next highest scorer at seven points for the Eels.

The Eels struggled to score in the first half, recording just 14 points to fall behind by 10 points, 24-14, Clay City played the Thunderbirds even in the second half, but couldn't make up any ground in the defeat.

Chelsee Gerber had six points for the Eels and Bryleigh Schopmeyer added four.

In junior varsity action, the Eels fell 32-25 despite seven points apiece from Emily Reed and Lydia Farmer. Chelsee Gerber added six points for the Eels who hit just four-of-16 free throws.

Up next for Clay City (6-3 overall, 0-3 TRC) is a return home versus Shakamak on Thursday.
