The Northview freshmen basketball team remained unbeaten this season after picking up an 87-36 victory over visiting Clay City on Thursday night.

The Knights scored early and often against the Eels in a fastbreak offense that rang up points in a hurry.

In the first half the Knights were able to pound the ball inside to Tyler Myers who rang up 13 points before halftime on a variety of buckets in the paint. Trey Horn provided support as well, pumping in another 11 points for the Knights who opened up a comfortable lead by outscoring the Eels 19-4 in the second period. Jered Timm added another eight points for Northview before halftime.

For the Eels, Kevin Cook led the way with eight points before the break.

In the second half, the Northview onslaught continued.

Horn came out on fire with nine points in the first minute and a half of the third period to extend the Northview lead. Horn and Timm would combine for 24 of the Knights' 26 points in the quarter to put the game out of reach.

Northview went to their bench quickly in the fourth quarter and Albert Dean tallied eight points in a short stint for Northview.

Horn led the Knights with 24 points in just more than three quarters and Timm added another 21 for Northview. Myers contributed 17 and Tyler Coltharp added eight.

For the Eels, Cook led Clay City with 12 points and Garry Payne added nine with Chris Gehrke contributing six.

In the 'B' game, Northview won 30-7 in a game that was just two quarters long.

Dean had 11 points for Northview and Zack Kirby added eight.

On Monday night, Northview got 25 points from Timm, 17 from Coltharp and 16 from Myers in beating Terre Haute South 73-54 despite 28 points from Ian White.

The 'B' however dropped a tight 48-47 decision despite 21 points from Dean and 10 from Josh Gregg.

Up next for Northview (8-0 overall) will be a home game versus Sullivan on Jan. 4.
