- Withers and Allen also earn titles
Senior Corey Grigsby earned Most Valuable Wrestler honors at the Bo Henry Classic on Saturday afternoon and joined teammates Brent Withers and Jeremiah Allen as individual champions for the Knights.
Grigsby went 3-0 to take home the championship at 130 pounds and Withers did the same at the 152 pound level. Allen won the championship at 215 pounds.
As a team, the Knights also made a solid showing with a third place finish with 170 points to finish behind Castle who scored 223.5 points and Princeton who scored 178. Placing fourth was Martinsville followed by Terre Haute North, Mooresville, Heritage and host Bloomington North.
Austin Nicosin placed second for the Knights, going 2-1 at 112 pounds and Chris Dean was runnerup at 145 with Greg Stultz second at 160. Gatlin Ferro placed third for Northview at 171 pounds.
Terre Haute North's LaShawn Tyler avenged his lone loss of the season by pinning Northview's Tony Sanabria in the semifinals before Tyler pinned defending champion Cody Royster of Castle.
Beau Pingleton placed fifth for Northview with a 2-2 mark on the day.
After getting off to a bit of a slow start this season, going 3-2 in the opening tournament of the year, Grigsby has beared down and gone 15-1 since then to post a season mark of 18-3 thus far. Allen has also continued a very successful season.
With his title on Saturday, Allen hits the 20-victory mark and is 20-1 overall this year. Withers is 15-6 this year and Sanabria is now 19-2 overall. Austin Nicosin is now 16-4 currently after his third place finish.
The Knights (12-6 in dual matches) will compete in the Mooresville Holiday Tourney beginning on Dec. 28.
