Dyer nets career-high, including buzzer beater

Monday, February 21, 2005

CLAY CITY -- Eel's senior Brock Dyer picked a great time to have a career night for Clay City.

The 6'1 forward helped Clay City salvage a split of their games over the weekend when he knocked down his eighth 3-pointer of the game at the buzzer to give the Eels a 54-51 victory over visiting Turkey Run.

Dyer scored a career-high 28 points in the game to send Clay City to the victory.

The Eels led in the early going, outscoring the Warriors 19-10 in the first quarter, but gave much of the lead back before halftime as Turkey Run scored 15 points in the second period to close within two points at the break.

Turkey Run was able to hold Clay City's leading-scorer, Josey Vansickle, to eight points before fouling out, but Dyer's output was enough to give the Eels the victory.

Garrett Thatcher scored 11 points in the game, including a perfect seven-of-seven from the free throw line and the Eels, as a team, hit all 10 of their shots from the charity stripe while the Warriors missed five of their nine shots. Matt Foster led the way for the Warriors with 19.

With the victory, Clay City advances to 8-12 with a home contest versus Rockville on Friday night.
