The Northview boys basketball team will get the same opportunity that their female counterparts did when sectional play opens in March.
Sectional draws for high school teams around the state were made on Sunday and the Knights drew the bye game in their own sectional and will open against the Martinsville Artesians. Like the girls, squad who also received a bye, the Knights will face a team that they played in their season opener.
Northview defeated the Artesians 38-36 in the first game of the season. Since then the Knights have gone 12-9 this year and Martinsville has put together a 9-9 campaign with two games left.
In the Tuesday, March 1 openers, Plainfield (8-12) will take on Terre Haute North (15-6) and Terre Haute South (17-4) will face Mooresville (8-11). The winners will play in the Friday evening opener at 6 p.m.
The Clay City Eels (8-12) will play the Tuesday, March 1 opening game at the White River Valley Sectional and will face off with North Central who they defeated on February 10.
On Wednesday, Bloomfield (11-9) plays White River Valley (9-9)at 6 p.m. and Holy Cross (1-18) plays Union (Dugger) (5-14). Shakamak (11-9) plays on Friday in the bye game against the winner of the Clay City/North Central game.
