The Northview Knights enjoyed a school-record number of football victories last season under third year head coach George Gettle.

That success has propelled seven Knights' players along with Gettle and Defensive Coordinator Dan Mikesell to be named to the All Wabash Valley All Star game to be played at Rose-Hulman's Phil Brown Field on June 25.

The Knights will have more players than any other team in the Valley on either team's roster.

The North All-Star Team/Gold Division features players from Turkey Run, Rockville, Terre Haute North, West Vigo, Riverton Parke, North Vermillion, North Putnam, South Vermillion and Northview from Indiana High Schools. Also included are players from Illinois schools, Paris and Marshall.

The South All-Star Team/Black Division includes players from North Central, Terre Haute South, Sullivan, Cloverdale, Sullivan, Linton, Greencastle, South Putnam, Martinsville and Union along with Robinson, Red Hill, Lawrenceville from Illinois.

The Knights placed linebackers Corey Grigsby and Craig Trout on the squad along with offensive linemen Jeremiah Allen and Heath Chamberlain. Wide receiver Michael Landry, an all-state performer as a junior will join TJ King on the team along with First Team All-State defensive back Brady Shoemaker who led the state in interceptions through the regular season.

Grigsby led Northview in tackles this season and Godsey was the team's rushing leader, galloping for 1,034 yards and five touchdowns. Landry and King combined for 76 catches this season and 12 touchdowns and Shoemaker added another 21 catches for the Knights. Landry led the team at over 15 yards per catch with King coming in next at just over 14 per catch.

Shoemaker had 10 interceptions to help lead a Northview defense that dominated many games this season. He was also named Associated Press First Team All-State, All-Wabash Valley First Team and to the Bloomington Herald-Times First Team as well, the first Northview player to reach first team status on all three squads.

Other players of note on the all star rosters will be Rockville running back Kurtis Barker who ran for 2,084 yards this season, sixth in the state, and 17 touchdowns this year. He'll be joined on the North squad by West Vigo's Shawn Sullivan, one of the Vikings all-time leading rushers.

Marshall's Casey Leinberger will be the quarterback for the North squad. He threw for nearly 1,500 yards and ran for over 400 yards for the Lions. He passed for 14 touchdowns and ran for five more.

Gettle will be the head coach of the North Team with assistants Mikesell of Northview, Rockville's Broc Leslie, a former Northview assistant, along with Terre Haute North's Greg Barrett, Mick Roberts of Paris and Troy Johnson of Marshall.

Coaching the South squad will be led by Greencastle High School coach John Fallis, a member of the most recent class of the Indiana Football Hall of Fame. His assistants will be Jay Engle of Terre Haute South, Steve Weber of Linton, Mike White from Lawrenceville and Jarrod Duff of Greencastle.

Tickets for the game will be available at each participating high school.
