-Vanatti sets school record in shot put
Members of the Northview boys track team competed at the Greencastle Invitational on Tuesday night.
There were several outstanding efforts for the Knights in the meet that was held at the indoor facility on DePauw's campus.
Junior Neil Vanatti registered a school record throw in the shotput with a third place throw of 48'10 1/2". Senior Chris Bowman was the highest finisher for the Knights with a second place finish in the 55 meter hurdles, running a full second faster than his best time last season with an 8.61.
The 4X400 meter relat team placed second as a team comprised of Ryan Thompson, Cody Jones, Landry Moore and Bowman just edged out Bloomington South with a time of 3:45.
Also competing for the Knights were Nick Gebert, who finished sixth in the shotput with a throw of 42'8" and Broc Miller had a leap of 18'4" to finish in eighth place and the 4X200 relay team of Miller, Jamie Bays, Cody Shipman and Thompson raced to a fifth place finish in 1:41.
Other schools participating were: Lafayette Jeff, Greenwood, Greencastle, Bloomington South, South Putnam, Brownsburg, Avon, Speedway, Beech Grove and White River Valley.
