North Clay girls declaw host Tiger Cubs

The North Clay eighth grade girls basketball team capped their season with a pair of victories over the host Greencastle Tiger Cubs on Thursday night.

The 'A' squad won comfortably, taking a 36-16 decision that moved their record to 16-5 this year.

For the Knights, Spring Raines tallied 10 points and added six assists and five steals in the victory. Stormi Raines contributed a strong nine point, five steal contest and Shelby Colson dominated on the boards with 14 for the Knights. She also added nine points and four steals for North Clay.

Hannah VanHorn was also strong on the boards with nine and she added four points. Katie Smith brought four points, two rebounds and two blocks to the table.

In the 'B' game, the Knights got a wide variety of scoring from seven different players who made their way into the scorebook.

In the 27-4 victory that made their finishing record 4-3 this year, Allison Stearley scored seven points to lead the team and Cathi Cepak, Ali Rentschler and Ashley Clarke all had four points.

On the glass, Allie True led the way with nine while Erika Matson added seven and both Kimball and Cepak added six. Rentschler added five assists for North Clay and Bonnie Froderman had three to go with four boards and two points. Kylee Thacker had five rebounds and led the team with three assists.
