Clay City boys track falls short to Vikings

Devin Whittington carded a 34 to tie for medalist honors in Northview's Thursday victory.

The Clay City boys track team dropped a 79-44 decision to West Vigo on Thursday night despite three victories from Logan Bettenbrock.

Bettenbrock was the winner in both the 3,200 meters (11:05) and the 1,600 meter event where he crossed the finish line in 5:03. He also won the 800 with a time of 2:17 followed by teammate Adam Schroer in 2:18.

Cole Schroer was third in the high jump at 5-2 and placed second in the 300 hurdles with a time of 49.7.

The 1,600 relay team of Dustin Souder, Jeff Schlak, Cole Schroer and Josey Vansickle was first in a time of 3:52. Souder was also third in the long jump at 5-2 and Billy Lucas was third in the 110 hurdles with a time of 19.8 and Jeff Schlak placed third in the 400 meters at 59.0 and Daniel Curtis placed second in the 200 at 25.8.

Kyle Booe was the discus winner with a heave of 129-10 followed by teammate Jake Jackson who threw 127-8. In the shotput, Matt Marrs was second with a throw of 37-11.

The Eels will host a meet with South Putnam and Shakamak on Tuesday night.
