Clay City sweeps past T-Birds and Riverton Parke in track

Chelsea Riggs placed fourth in the high jump against North Central and Riverton Parke Thursday.

The Clay City Eels defeated North Central and Riverton Parke in both a girls and boys three-way track meet on Thursday night.

In the boys event, the Eels won a 70-56 decision over the Thunderbirds with Riverton Parke in third with 30 points.

Cole Schroer won the 110 hurdles and placed second in the 300 event and joined Dustin Souder, Jeff Schlak and Josey Vansickle to win the 1,600 relay. Souder won the 800 and was second in the longjump. Logan Bettenbrock won the 1,600 meter run and was second ahead of Adam Schroer in the 3,200. Schroer was third in the 1,600.

Daniel Curtis came in third in the 100, 200 and 400 with Schlak placing second in the 400.

In the throwing events, Kyle Booe was the discus winner with a throw of 119-4 ahead of Jake Jackson and Matt Marrs. Andrew Marrs was second in the shotput ahead of Matt Marrs in third.

In the girls meet, the Eels won 104 to Riverton Parke's 27 and 25 from North Central to advance to 6-1-1 as a team.

Andrea Ladd was a big key on the track, winning the 100, 200 and 400 as well as being a part of the winning 400 relay team with Rachel Narlock, Mardi Steiner and Hannah Moore.

Narlock took care of the field events for the Eels with a win in the longjump, high jump and the 300 hurdles as well as the 400 relay event.

Moore was a winner in the 1,600 and was second in the 3,200 ahead of Amber Skeel who was a part of the second place 3,200 relay team with Chelsea Riggs, Lacey Rood and Johanna Bush. Rebecca Seymour placed second in the 100 hurdles ahead of Courtney Dayhuff. Rood was the runnerup in the 400.

In the throwing events, Sabrina Liechty won the shotput with Jackie Sands and Joannie Dyer in third. Kasey Waite won the discus ahead of Liechty and Sands.

The Eels will travel to Cloverdale to face the Clovers on Tuesday.
