The North Clay boys team competed very strongly versus Woodrow Wilson last week but came out on the short end of a 60-40 meet score.
Jordan Keller earned big points for the Knights with a first place in the high jump (4-11), the shot put (40-10) and was a member of the 4X100 relay team along with Matt Trout, Drake Stevenson and Seth Wright. The relay team won in 51.85. He also joined the second place 4X400 relay squad of Ryan Mafioli, Justin White and Jonathan Bradshaw to finish in 4:15.
Stevenson also had some big points in the meet with a first place in the 200 meters (26.84) in addition to the winning relay squad. He also was second behind White in the long jump. White's winning leap was 15-8 with Stevenson the runnerup at 15-7.
Trout was a third place finisher in the high jump at 4-4 with Jordan Nelson third in the long jump. Thad Whittington was third in the 100 meter hurdles and Eli Kirby was third in the 1,600.
"It is every positive to see a majority of the athletes continually improving and getting better as the season progresses," commented coach Jeff Walker. "This is a direct correlation of the hard work that the team has been putting in during practices. This bodes well for the team as they prepare for the conference meet on May 7 at Edgewood.
Up next for the Knights will be a trip tonight to Greencastle and a visit to South Vermillion on Thursday.
