Wildcats defeat Knights in golf

The Northview Knights dropped a 159-165 decision to host South Vermillion at Geneva Hills Golf Course on Thursday night. The Wildcats remained unbeaten in dual matches this season at 7-0, the Knights are now 7-3.

Zeth Lindsey was the medalist for the Wildcats with a 37 and the Knights got a 38 from Devin Whittington to lead the squad.

"We didn't play particularly well tonight," commented coach Scott Buell. "We had some guys shoot a couple of big numbers tonight."

Adam Thiemann carded a 40 with Kyle Kumpf adding a 43 and Austin Schutte a 44. Jeremy Johnson, up from the JV squad, shot a 45 and Roy Wyndham recorded a 49.

Despite the varsity loss, the Knights did get a victory from their junior varsity team.

"Our JV team played really well tonight," said Buell. "I was really happy with how they played."

Northview's JV team defeated the Wildcats, 176-190.

Clint Grey was the JV medalist with his round of 40 for the Knights. Josh Conway had a 45 along with Matt Williams and Pat Czizek had a 46, Matt Thompson a 52 and Matt Miller a 53.

Northview will compete in the Japer Tournament this weekend at Jasper Municipal Golf Course.
