Northview 'B' team baseball wins

Wednesday, May 11, 2005

The Northview 'B' baseball team had struggled of late much like their varsity counterparts, but perhaps Monday's contest with Sullivan is a good omen for both squads.

The Knights bounced back from a pair of losses (West Vigo 2-1 and Terre Haute North 11-9) to post a convincing 15-5 victory over Sullivan.

Jordan Pond was the winner on the mound, going the distance while striking out six batters and allowing six hits in getting the Knights started on a positive note in what is a long week for Northview. The Knights will play four games this week.

Offensively the Knights were led by Chase Yocom who went 4-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and four of Northview's 12 stolen bases in the game. He also scored three runs. Jordan Pond had a pair of hits in the game and Austin Bryan added another two. Jordan Myers drilled a homerun and the Knights showed a great deal of patience at the plate, drawing nine walks while striking out just twice.

Northview is now 9-3 on the season and will travel to Mooresville tonight.
