Ashley Davis placed third in the Evansville Central Regional on Wednesday evening. She will advance to the state finals.

The Northview girls track team fared quite well at the Evansville Central track regional on Wednesday night and Terre Haute South avenged last week's team defeat to rival North during the sectional.

Emily Pugh finished off an exciting 3,200 meter race with a second place finish after being chased down from behind by Jasper's Maria Gramelspacher in the closing meters.

Pugh ran a time of 11:35.99, more than 30 seconds faster than her seeded time coming off a second place at the Terre Haute North Sectional where she finished behind Kayla Alexander of Terre Haute North.

Alexander finished in seventh and will not advance to the state finals in the event and with a fourth place finish in the 1,600, won't advance in that event either.

South's Kate Goeller won the 1,600 in a time of 5:18.82, making the state finals which will take place on June 4 at Indiana University.

The Knights also will send Ashley Davis who registered a school record with a throw of 112-10 as she finished third behind Boonville's Erika Downing (114-02) and Elizabeth DeLong of Castle (113-8).

Natasha Barnett also ran a strong 300 meter hurdles for the Knights, running her best time with a 49.00 which is .34 faster than her previous best. The time was good for sixth in the event which was won by Evansville Harrison's Katie Johnson who recorded a 45.60.

The Clay City Eels got a fourth place finish from freshman Rachael Narlock in the high jump when she cleared 5-0. Kayla Tucker of Evansville Reitz was the winner by clearing 5-6 1/4.

The 4X100 relay team of Danielle Steiner, Andrea Ladd, Hannah Moore and Narlock finished 12th in a time of 53.79.
