Five Clay County volleyball players to play at Junior Olympic Nationals

The Crossroads of America 12-and under Red volleyball team has qualified for the USAV Junior Olympics Nationals in Salt Lake City, Utah at the end of June.

The team is the first club made up entirely of Wabash Valley players to reach this elite level of competition.

Five Clay County players are part of the team including fourth grader Callie Dayhuff of Clay City Elementary, fifth grader Ashlen Buck of Jackson Township Elementary, sixth grader Kaylee Clark, fifth grader Briana Cook of East Side Elementary, sixth grader Lindsey Higgins of Clay City Middle School and Olivia Schindler.

That group, along with 12 other COA teammates, qualified with a win at the Hoosier Regionals May 7-8, beating Ft. Wayne Blue team 25-15, 25-21.


COA 16-and under team unbeaten

at Indy Cup

The 16-and under Red team took the Indy Cup championship by going a perfect 10-0 in the tourney held June 11-13.

The team includes Northview's Kaley Huffman, Lottie King and Lindsay Thomas along with Clay City's Ashley McCullough. The team is comprised of players from Sullivan, South Vermillion, Terre Haute South, Clay City and Northview.
