The awards continue to pour in for former Northview High School standout Brady Shoemaker.
After compiling a .530 batting average to go with 13 homeruns and 10 stolen bases, Shoemaker was awarded the Mel Wysong Offensive Player of the Year Award by Hoosier Diamond Magazine recently.
Shoemaker drove home 56 runs for the Knights who advanced to semistate action this season. He doubled 15 times to go with four triples and compiled 115 total bases while striking out just twice in 100 at-bats. He had an on-base percentage of .629.
Currently Shoemaker and teammate T.J. King are playing for Wayne Newton Post 346 (30-5) in American Legion baseball where both players are continuing to bash the baseball.
In sectional play this weekend, Shoemaker went a combined 7-of-10 while scoring four runs and six RBIs in three games and King had five hits in 10 at-bats in a pair of wins on Saturday. He also had a double, homerun and five RBIs while scoring two runs in an 18-7 over Vincennes Post 73.
The two will join their legion teammates in regional play at 8 p.m. on Friday at Terre Haute North.
The pair will remain as teammates when they head to Olney Central College in Illinois next season to play for the Blue Knights who finished 44-16 and were ranked 25th last year.
