Farris shoots 16-under to win Brazil Open

Brazil's Troy Farris became the first amateur golfer to win the Brazil Open when he followed a first round 62 up with a 64 on Sunday, good for an unofficial tournament record round of 126.

Farris shot a 29 on the front-9 when he carded eight consecutive 3's before a par-5 on the last hole of the front.

Tom Jones placed second in the tournament with his 129 that included rounds of 64 and 65. Tyler Akers shot a 2-under par 140 to finish second to Farris in the amateur division followed by Matt Cain in third and Jake Peacock was fourth.

Mike Nakai of Terre Haute shot a 130 to win the pro division with Mike Spetisos shooting a 133 for second.

West Vigo's Dustin Richards won the 16-18 title with a 159 and Evan Miller won the 14-15 division.

The Forest Park Men's Club Championship will be played Labor Day weekend.
