Knights run away with Braves Invite

TERRE HAUTE -- With temperatures soaring on the Rea Park Golf Course, the Northview Knights dominated their competition by posting a 20 stroke victory over their closest competitor, Jasper, in winning the Lady Braves Invitational.

The Knights' got a round of 75 from Millie Akers who was the second low medalist behind Rachel Pruitt of Linton who carded a 74.

Northview shot a team score of 334 to beat the Wildcats' 354 with T.H. North in third with a 369 and the Knights second team was in fourth place followed by Cloverdale rounding out the top-five in the 10 team field.

"This showed us what our sectional will be like," said head coach Teresa Akers. "We were hoping to be matched up on the course with one or both teams, but we didn't get to see either one," said Akers of being paired with sectional foes Terre Haute North or Jasper.

The Knights beat out the Wildcats by one stroke in last year's sectional with the Patriots in third place.

Mary Beth Tribble came in second on the team with a round of 79 with Jenae Huffman placing third with an 87. Madison Kirchner shot a round of 93 for the Knights and Madason Stevenson shot a round of 95.

Erika Tucker led the Knights 'B' squad with a round of 97.

Up next for the Knights will be a return home for a three team match at Forest Park with Linton and Cloverdale beginning at 1 p.m.
