Knights pick up road tennis win

The Northview tennis team advanced to 2-1 this season by winning at number two and three singles and taking a decisive doubles match versus Brown County for a 3-2 WIC victory on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Austin Akers won a straight set, 6-1, 6-2 match over Malcolm Mulry and Garrett Turpin took a 6-0, 6-4 win at number three singles as coach Tom West switched up his rotation a bit and earned two wins.

Turpin typically plays doubles and switched spots with Clint Grey who teamed with Jeremy Johnson for a 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 2 doubles.

Garrett Mager and the doubles team of Brock Lawson and Clint Reynolds won in JV action.

The Knights play this evening at home versus White River Valley at 5 p.m.

#2 Singles: Austin Akers(NV) won over Malcolm Mulry(BC) 6-1, 6-2

#3 Singles: Garrett Turpin(NV) won over Aaron Shaffer(BC) 6-0, 6-4

#1 Doubles: Cody Jones-Ryne Barr(NV) lost to David Tatham-Tanner Fleshour(BC) 1-6, 0-6

#2 Doubles: Clint Grey-Jeremy Johnson(NV) won over Alan Critser-Andrew Lockdall(BC) 6-3, 7-5

Junior Varsity

#1 Singles: Garrett Magers(NV) won over Craig Davis(BC) 8-0

#1 Doubles: Brock Lawson-Clint Reynolds(NV) won over Josh Crumrin-Nathan Taylor(BC) 8-0
