The Mustangs got on the board first as a result of some confusion in the Knight's defense to take a 1-0 advantage. From there, both squads matched up evenly until the waning minutes of the game.
John Latta knotted the game up with three minutes remaining with a shot from 20 yards out. However, the Mustangs came right back, getting a player behind the Knights defense to score off a last minute header to take the victory.
"The guys played well tonight, but it took a goal to really get us going, the main thing is that we did not control the tempo of this game, they had the ball more and even when we did we were not testing their keeper. However, the loss aside, I told the team, if we win the rest of our conference games we can still win the conference."
Lucas Boyd lead the team with three of the eight team shots with Logan Lynch garnering 10 steals, Shane Boyd had eight steals, Michael Gallion nine and both Jordan Pond and Sam Spencer had six.
The Knights are now 6-1-1 overall with a 2-1 mark in the WIC and a home game versus Brown County at 11 a.m today.
