Knights and Eels win at Shakamak

The Northview girls and Clay City boys registered team wins at the Shakamak Cross Country Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

The Knights got a sixth place finish from Hannah Hunter to edge out Owen Valley with 68 team points to the Patriots 76. Both the Knights and Eels placed three runners in the top-10, but Clay City had a 13th place finish from Kevin Cook along with a 14th from Braxton Griffith and Tyler Moon was 15th.

James Grounds was the boys winner in 17:02, winning by 22 seconds over Brad Thada of North Montgomery. Logan Wegner was seventh for the Knights and Chris Smith was 10th for Northview.

Clay City's boys, however, got a fourth place finish from Adam Schroer in 17:32 and a fifth place from Logan Bettenbrock with Cole Schroer in ninth.

Andrea Ladd lead Clay City's girls with a 12th place finish in 17:45 and Rachael Narlock was 21st in 18:51.

White River Valley's Jennifer Hughes was the overall winner in 16:34.

Up next for Northview is a Wednesday road trip to South Putnam while the Eels compete in the Tri-River Conference meet on Tuesday night.
