Rachael Narlock was eighth for Clay City on Thursday night.

The Clay City cross country teams got a chance to face off with Terre Haute North on the Eels turf on Thursday evening.

The Patriots would come out on top in both meets though the Eels gave them all they could handle in the boys meet.

Clay City placed their top five runners in the top nine, including a second place from Logan Bettenbrock, but the Patriots just squeezed by with a 26 to 29 victory in the boys race.

Zach Mayhew was the winner of the boys race in 17:25.

Bettenbrock ran a 17:30 for his runnerup spot with Adam Schroer in fourth (17:46) and Cole Schroer running a strong race for sixth in 18:24. Kevin Cook placed ninth to round out the top 10 for the Eels.

In the girls event, the Patriots dominated the action to take a 15-50 decision over the Eels.

Anna Claretto was the winner of the girls race in 16:45.

Rachael Narlock was the top finisher for Clay City in eighth at 18:29 and Andrea Ladd was ninth for the Eels.

The Eels will compete in the SWIAC meet on Thursday evening at 4:30 p.m.
