The North Clay eighth grade volleyball team earned a pair of wins over Greencastle on Monday night, taking a 21-7, 21-9 win in the first game and winning 21-1, 21-5 in the second contest.
Ali Sharton had 10 points and two kills in the first game and Brittany Long added four points and four kills while Chloe Burdette had eight points with two aces and a kill. Both Hannah Long and Samantha Solomon had aces.
In the second game, Alyssa Clark had a big game from the service line, going for 20 points and two aces with Stephanie McMains chipping in with seven points and two aces. Natalie Sullivan added seven points and three aces.
Knights take WIC Championship
The North Clay eighth grade also won the WIC championship by taking three straight games, beating Edgewood 25-18, 25-4, Owen Valley 25-13, 25-17 and Sullivan 25-18, 25-25.
Against Edgewood, Kelsey Searing had 17 points and Chloe Burdette added 11 with three aces. Hannah Pond added six points with two aces and Brittney Long had four kills with Ali Sharton contributing two.
In the second game, Sharton had 10 points, Burdette had six and Long had five with four kills. Samantha Solomon rang up four straight aces to finish the match and had three kills.
In the championship match, Sharton had eight points, Burdette six and both Searing and Solomon had five. Whitson served up four points and Long had seven kills with Sullivan adding two. Burdette had the final point and a tap over Sullivan's front row to win the championship.
