The Clay City boys cross country team headed into the postseason on the right foot, dominating the team scoring for the championship.
The Eels placed their top five scoring runners in the top eight lead by Logan Bettenbrock who was the winning runner in 16:36.
Clay City's boys, readying for the Terre Haute North Sectional on October 11, won comfortably buoyed by strong efforts from their entire team who all placed in the top-12.
The Eels scored 26 team points to best Shakamak's 70, Bloomfield's 81 and Linton's 106. Eastern and North Daviess rounded out the field.
Adam Schroer came through with a fourth place finish in a time of 16:58 and Tyler Moon came home in 17:39 in sixth to lead a pack of Eels' runners. Cole Schroer was seventh in 17:43 with Kevin Cook in eighth at 17:46 to round out the Eels in the top 10.
In the girls event, the Eels were paced by Andrea Ladd in eighth place with a time of 17:22 with Alisha Drake crossing in 18:10 and Rachael Narlock in 18:22 for the Eels who were sixth as a team.
Linton was the team winner with 63 points followed by Bloomfield with 76 and White River Valley posting 78 points in the seven team field.
The sectional meet will take place on Tuesday beginning at 5 p.m. at the LaVern Gibson Complex.
