Skelton's Taekwondo wins awards in Decatur Tourney

Skelton's Takwondo Academy traveled from Brazil to Decatur, Illinois on September 17 to compete in the ATA Legends of 106 Taekwondo Tournament. The theme of the tournament was role models where "You may only be one person to the world, but you may also be the world to one person."

Dr. Dennis Skelton was honored as one of the Legends of Region 106. Dr. Skelton is a 5th Degree Black Belt, Certified Instructor and National Judge. He was a World Champion in Sparring in 2000. Skelton's Taekwondo Academy was established on Depot Street in Brazil in 1995. The academy has a building dedicated to teaching martial arts and offers programs for adults and children. Skelton's Taekwondo Academy members earned trophies in Sparring, Weapons, Form and One Step. They competed in the Pee Wee, Kid, Junior and Adult Divisions. The participants and their placement were:

Nick Marietta - Green Belt: 1st Form

Nathan Brown -- Green Belt: 2nd Weapons, 3rd Sparring

Morgan Brown -- Camouflage Belt: 1st Form, 1st Weapons

Seth Harrison -- Camouflage Belt: 1st Form

Allison Herrick -- Yellow Belt: 3rd Form, 2nd One Step

Nicole Richardson - Orange Belt: 1st Form, 1st One Step
