Clay City splits volleyball matches

Clay City lost to Linton 22-25, 18-25, 15-25 on Saturday night despite Ashley McCullough's eight kills, six blocks and three points. Junior Sarah Kennedy had six blocks, three kills and four points with Courtney Dayhuff chipping in with 10 points and five assists. Kendra Roe had 14 digs in the loss.

Linton defeated South Vermillion 25-9, 25-16.

Clay City defeated South Vermillion 25-14, 25-23 in their match as McCullough had six kills, six blocks and three service points. Kenzi Butts added six points with aces and Kennedy had five kills and two blocks. Melinda Jackson had four kills for Clay City with Chelsee Gerber and Dayhuff each contributing five assists.

Clay City is 17-5 this season and will face Union on Thursday at the Bloomfield Sectional.
